What’s in it?
Harakeke (New Zealand flax) extract: Anti-bacterial, soothes and repairs inflamed skin, skin softening and healing.
Silk peptide (plant protein): Increases hair elasticity and increase the hair’s natural shine.
Keratin (plant protein): Improves hair vitality.
Cucumber oil: Cooling and anti-itch.
Chamomile extract: Soothes and calms.
Colloidal oatmeal
Oatmeal is a recognised treatment for dermatitis, burns, inflamed, itchy and sensitive skin. Scientists have been able to identify the key active ingredients within oatmeal which contributed to effective healing of the skin, protection from lipid peroxidation (dryness), relief from itching, alleviate redness and reduce inflammation.
In 2003 colloidal oatmeal was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration [FDA] for use as a skin protectant – it is one of the few botanical ingredients considered as an effective skin protectant by the FDA. That’s a pretty big deal because the FDA don’t just going around approving botanical ingredients willy nilly. The FDA’s stamp of approval means that there are a lot of studies that conclusively show oatmeal benefits your skin. Don’t be fooled, this doesn’t mean you can go buy any old oatmeal based skincare – they are not all created equal. All good things for active acne or dry cracked skin.
